Please do not exercise/stop exercising and seek advice from your healthcare professional if you have or develop any of the following:

  • A weak cervix or problems with your cervix
  • Placenta previa after 26 weeks of pregnancy
  • Problems with your placenta such as placenta acreta or percreta
  • A condition called pre-eclampsia
  • Your baby is small for dates and there is concern about your placental function
  • Leakage of fluid from the vagina or vaginal bleeding
  • Severe and regular abdominal pain/contractions (in contrast to Braxton Hicks which are irregular and milder)
  • Severe calf pain and/or swelling
  • Dizziness or visual disturbances
  • Poorly controlled/uncontrolled epilepsy, hypertension or thyroid disease
  • Any other serious heart or lung problems

 

Start gently and progress gradually if you have any of the following

  • Mild or moderate heart or lung disease such as asthma
  • Diabetes with daily episodes of hypoglycaemia/sugar lows or hypoglycaemia unawareness
  • Symptomatic anaemia
  • History of recurrent (≥3 in a row) first or a single second trimester miscarriage
  • History of preterm labour (before 37 weeks gestation)
  • You are carrying twins

If you are medically fit and well our exercise videos are suitable for you from 6-8 weeks after the birth of your baby
