It comes as no surprise that having a baby can affect your bladder and bowel control. 1 in 3 people have trouble holding their wee during pregnancy or just after giving birth. up to 1 in 4 people have accidental bowel leakage while pregnant. That’s a lot of people! But there’s good news— you can help prevent this!
Your midwife will ask you some questions about your pelvic health around 16 weeks pregnant and will refer you to the antenatal pelvic health class. You will then receive information about the upcoming dates and links to join the class from the physiotherapy team. If this doesn’t suit you, then you can watch a recorded version here above.
By learning about your pelvic floor muscles— the muscles that support your bladder, bowel, and uterus — you can take control of your health. This class will help you stay strong, feel confident, and enjoy pregnancy with less worry.
Taking care of yourself now means a healthier future!
Our programme provides you with exercise videos and useful resources to refer to during your pregnancy and after you have had your baby. We hope you will find the programme useful and that we can help encourage you to stay fit and well during this important time
